Curriculum
At Little Cupcake Preschool, we strive to develop and implement hands on, fun, and researched backed curriculum.
Literacy
One of the main components of our literacy program is Letter Recognition. We will be focusing on one letter each week. We will learn the correct letter formation for the letter as well as its sound.
We use the Learning without Tears as our handwriting program. And Fundations as our phonics program.
Our Literacy developmental goals are:
*Recognizing uppercase and lowercase letters
*Writing first and last name
*Recognizing 40 sight words
*Name and use rhyming words
*Write letters with correct sizing and formation
*Begin to write a simple sentence
Math
Math concepts will be taught in mostly small group settings. Manipulatives to develop concrete number sense skills.
Our Math developmental goals are:
*Counting to 50
*One to one Correspondence
*Identifying 2D and 3D shapes
*Simple Addition and Subtraction
Art
We focus on exploring the materials and take a hands-on approach to art. We will get to explore a variety of different mediums including acrylic paint, watercolors, clay, crayons, colored pencils, pastels, chalk, and markers. We have the opportunity to create amazing artwork. We will learn scissor skills, gluing, and watercolor techniques. The goal for art is to be 100% produced by your child.
Science
Students will explore a variety of science topics including season changes, animals and their habitats, and magnets. We will explore sensory bins. We will also conduct experiments, make predictions and draw conclusions.
